...Continued from above... And so I went. I figured I'd learn some things I didn't already know, and maybe make some new friends to help in recruiting for Pow Wow teachers. And while I did learn some things and made several new friends, what I didn't expect was finally, after 3 years of being a Cub Scout leader, to really get the Spirit of Scouting. My experiences at Akela's Council changed the focus of my leadership in my Pack. We'd had fun times before, but now the Spirit of Scouting infused everything I did with the Pack. I found even more joy in my service and the boys and their families became more and more involved in the program. Akela's Council is NOT PowerPoint presentations and boring lectures. It is personalized training in a funny and outgoing and laid back manner. It is hands-on and it made scouting real in ways that are hard to understand until you've gone. I have never had such a fun and inspiring time in any other training. I've been back several times to help as a member of staff in the subsequent years and each time has taught me something new to help me be a better leader. This year, I was honored to be the Cubmaster for AC 30. We had a great staff who are worked hard to make this course the best yet. And though it stormed and flooded our tents, we grew closer together as a group and shared some special and memorable experiences that will stay with us all our lives. If you are a cub scout leader and have not been to Akela’s Council, then you really need to plan on going next summer! It will be the best training and best week of your life!

Akela's council has been the best training for me as a Cub leader! I have been involved with Cub ScouI learned so much about the program and how it should function, and also it just made me excited to be a Cub Scout leader! Everything was so hands on and interactive, it made me feel young again! Best of all, I made friendships that will last a lifetime. It is so wonderful to have a support system I can contact and bounce ideas off of. Thanks so much to the staff who made this one of the greatest weeks of my life!

You want to attend Akela's Council! Akela's Council has been the most fun, most intense, most rewarding Scouting training I have ever attended. We planned and held den and pack meetings and a Blue and Gold banquet, attended the craziest Roundtable ever, sang a lot of songs, did skits, performed service, raced pinewood derby cars down the side of the mountain and jumped into the trees, made and raced boats and paper rockets, played games, retired a flag, got wet, ate well, slept too little and worked too late, and laughed until our sides hurt and tears ran down our legs. The staff were amazing, lively, fun, knowledgeable, and caring. The training was fun and engaging, covered an incredible array of topics, and none of it felt like fluff. I'm pretty sure they lay awake some nights trying to figure out how to fit one more training into an already jam-packed 4 1/2 days. By the end of the week there was an immense sense of accomplishment, and excitement to take what I had learned back home to use. Best of all, in the space of just a few days, three cubmasters and a roundtable commissioner, from different states and different lives had come together to become first a den and then life-long friends. My only regret is that it had to end. Cheyenne!

Akela's Council is the very best Cub Scout Training! I had been a cub scout leader for 4 years when I final attended and thought that I "knew it all" boy was I wrong! I learned SO much. Not only did I learn more about the program but I learned a lot about myself as well. Attending Akela's Council changed my life in may ways and not all of them are related to scouting. It is SO worth the money and the time!!

I had been in cub scouting for over 4 years before I went to Akela's Council. I quickly understood that it was a big mistake to wait. In addition to learning know how, you learn enthusiasm. I gained a completely different vision of cub scouting. And I believe that vision helped many boys begin their scouting trek. Scouting starts with Cubs. Learn how to give them the very best.Come to Akela's Council.

Akela's Council was the best Scout training I have ever had. The leaders were all terrific, the people in my Den were wonderful and I had a great Den Leader, and the cooks were the best ever. I would like everyone involved with the Cub Scout program to take this course.

Akela's Council was SOOOO much fun and a extremely rewarding week. Although I have had several positions of responsibility with Scouting and two grown boys, I learned a lot and was filled with enthusiasm for the program and it's potential to change and influence lives for the better. Well worth the time and money.
