You want to attend Akela's Council!
Akela's Council has been the most fun, most intense, most rewarding Scouting training I have ever attended. We planned and held den and pack meetings and a Blue and Gold banquet, attended the craziest Roundtable ever, sang a lot of songs, did skits, performed service, raced pinewood derby cars down the side of the mountain and jumped into the trees, made and raced boats and paper rockets, played games, retired a flag, got wet, ate well, slept too little and worked too late, and laughed until our sides hurt and tears ran down our legs.
The staff were amazing, lively, fun, knowledgeable, and caring. The training was fun and engaging, covered an incredible array of topics, and none of it felt like fluff. I'm pretty sure they lay awake some nights trying to figure out how to fit one more training into an already jam-packed 4 1/2 days.
By the end of the week there was an immense sense of accomplishment, and excitement to take what I had learned back home to use. Best of all, in the space of just a few days, three cubmasters and a roundtable commissioner, from different states and different lives had come together to become first a den and then life-long friends. My only regret is that it had to end.
Cheyenne!
